Harry Potter - Hufflepuff
The Sorting Hat
Oh you may not think me pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!
Well, it won't come as a surprise that I was sorted into Hufflepuff. Not once, but almost every time I put the Sorting Hat on. On rare occasions it was Ravenclaw, only once Slytherin :)
When I first got online - I think it was May 2001 - I joined a Harry Potter Forum and was sorted into Hufflepuff. I was VERY disappointed, as I so desperately wanted to be in Gryffindor, like Harry. But I made my way to the Hufflepuff Common Room and met so many wonderful people there. Some of them are friends for life.
Eventhough I've left that forum now, I often think about the special times we had, working on projects together, trying to win points for the House Cup.
One of the projects was writing a book about Helga Hufflepuff, the founder of Hufflepuff House. I couldn't let that wonderful project collect dust on my hard drive, so I've put it online. If you're interested, you can find it here: "The Story of Helga".
I've collected so many things related to Harry Potter, it was about time that they got their own place.
No matter what anyone tells you, Harry Potter books aren't just for kids. If you haven't read them, you should!
Have fun browsing
