2nd Opinon
Went for a 2nd opinion to another hospital and well… there’s good news and bad news.
The good news is that the bone is in the right place and the new x-rays show no abnormalities. I was disappointed at first, because I was hoping they’d find something that could be fixed so I could move on. After letting this news sink in for a while I know now that this is the best news I could get, no one wants to have surgery – I sure don’t – so it’s good news.
The bad news is that the dystrophy can take up to 1 to 2 years before it’s gone. The pain will subside, the dr is convinced that it WILL disappear at some stage because the signs are there. I have good days, which apparently is one of the signs that I will get rid of that nasty dystrophy.
Of course, this wasn’t the news I wanted to hear, but there’s nothing I can do but be patient (yeah, right).
The pain in my leg ánd the medicine I have to take are the reasons I’m still not allowed to drive a car. The only times I get out of the house is when hubby drives me to the grocery store – oh joy! As much as I hate getting groceries, this is actually something I’m looking forward to now, because it’s a change of scenery :p
All in all, not sure where this will lead or how long it will take. No idea how long I’m allowed to stay on sick-leave either. Meds are making me drowsy and I feel too tired to think.
Will keep you posted!
Oei daar ben je nog wel even zoet mee zeg.. Hopelijk is het dichter bij de 1 dan de 2 jaar dat de dystrofie wegtrekt! Ik duim voor je!
ps. Ik blijf vanuit Schotland zeker bloggen hoor 😉
