Mary Poppins
Regular visitors of my blog will know that I’m a huge musical fan and I love the TV-searches for the lead in a musical. This year they were searching for the – very first – Dutch Mary Poppins. The musical has never been staged here and Manon, Sabine and I were looking forward to the program. Mixed feelings now as the series came to an end yesterday, but… our favourite won! We either have a common taste in singers or just a good nose to pick the right one as we’ve never been wrong before (in Holland, nor in the UK).
We want to go see the show for sure, so I hope my bank account will grow miraculously :p
Here is Noortje Herlaar, in her first performance dressed as Mary – right after she was announced the winner.
Enjoy!
Wow! She’s fantastic. And I loved seeing all the people in the audience mouthing the words along with the song. I would love to see this musical on stage, but it hasn’t been in Seattle yet – or if it has, I missed it.
She’s awesome, isn’t she, Pat? And to think that she’s just 24! Following (and supporting) her in the search for Mary makes you feel like you know her – which of course we don’t – but we sure are proud of her 🙂
There is a US national tour, read more about it here:

She so looks the part. Just like the original Julie Andrews role.
I reckon they could avoid the whole voting process Antoinette and just let you audition the candidates and pick the winner.
ROFL Karen, that would be awesome, but I don’t think the public would agree with just one judge 🙂
