It’s me!
Karen (Scraps of Mind) challenged her readers to create a layout about themselves and I – without thinking twice – said I’d join. You’d think, at the age of 49, I would have learned how to THINK before I SAY something, but alas.
The picture was found in a sec. I have only 2 or 3 pictures where I’m at, so the choice was limited 🙂
But when I got to the journaling part I had to think hard. What to write? There’s not just one me, there are hundreds. Me as a mom is not the same person as me at the office. Or maybe it IS the same person, but I don’t act the same.
Then I wondered how people see me. I know that people who meet me for the first time think I’m reserved, which I’m not. It’s just a way to hide how shy I am. I act confident (“hey, I can conquer the world”) and that gets translated as being cocky. A friend told me recently that she thought I was haughty, when we first met, and she was happy to admit that she probably never was more off – lol.
I’m very down to earth, but when I draw – using old fashioned pencil and paper – I’m off in a different world. Same goes for me at the theatre. I get visions of ME standing on stage and graciously accepting the standing ovation. That’s the dreamer in me… if I would really be on stage I’d be petrified!
Then there’s me the mom. Or better said, secretary, taxi-driver, cook, personal assistant, bank, confidant, comforter, housekeeper, mediator and so much more. Suddenly I have virtues like patience and selflessness – things I never thought I’d have.
Then there’s me at the office. Businesslike, adjuster, controller, colleague, accurate, precise, totally the opposite of me as a housewife. I can overlook dustbunnies with no problem at all! I don’t conquer Mount Laundry, I manage to avoid it by a mile and surf the Internet instead.
So, which of the roles I play in life should get the spotlight….? Tough decision.
How can I put all these lines into the small journaling area I have?? I can’t – so I kept it general and decided to explain in this post why.
* Kit created by me 🙂
Thanks for the wonderful challenge Karen! I’m looking forward to visiting all the blogs with the “About Me” layout!
What a fabbo layout Antoinette. I love how you’ve portrayed all your roles and the sensational journaling in the post above. And that’s a great kit you’ve designed. I love love love those masks.
Aww thanks Karen.
The masks are tubes I downloaded from a site that disappeared from the net several years ago. I searched for two days, but can’t find them again online, so I don’t know who to credit 🙁

wow I love that layout. The colours are so rich and I love your journaling and how you have included the roles you play in this theatre called life. So can you be tempted to scrap another layout of you?
Hello, found you via Karen. Lovely layout! Great journaling!
Great layout – I like your take on it, and the journalling is fab. The masks are a nice touch too and really complement the title and theme.
Great kit, great page, great story! The “embroidery” on the bottom of the masks (and your photo) is so lovely!
This is a marvelous page about YOU. I really hope it’s not your last! We all have a story to tell – I hope you don’t let yours go untold!
Nice layout – that’s a great kit you designed. I also enjoyed reading the story behind the journalling.
Love your take on this – it is so true! Great layout!
Cool idea to scrap about the roles in your life – love it 🙂
